The Department of Interior Architecture within the Faculty of Architecture and Design (MTF) was established in 1991 under the Faculty of Fine Arts at Anadolu University with the aim of providing contemporary and original interior design education. In August 2012, it became one of the founding departments of the newly established Faculty of Architecture and Design. Today, as part of Eskişehir Technical University, our department is recognized as one of the most well-established interior architecture departments in Türkiye.
As the Department of Interior Architecture at Eskişehir Technical University, our goal is to educate individuals who can adapt to the rapid changes taking place both globally and nationally. Our department offers education at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including master’s and proficiency in arts programs.
Educational activities in interior architecture are carried out by our distinguished full-time academic staff, consisting of professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and research assistants. Through the scientific and artistic projects they undertake and the publications they produce, our academic staff contribute both to the advancement of the field of interior architecture and to the representation of our university within the academic community. In addition, numerous part-time professionals with expertise in the field contribute to our courses from outside the permanent academic staff. This collaboration strengthens the integration between academia and industry, enabling both academics and students to better comprehend evolving sectoral needs while ensuring that knowledge and educational methods remain up to date. Joint projects addressing industry needs are developed through collaborations with professional experts. Each year, workshops are organized within our department in collaboration with leading companies in the fields of lighting and furniture design, thereby providing our students with opportunities to engage directly with the sector. Our department places great importance on the contributions of external stakeholders to educational activities and actively supports such collaborations.
In our department, we aim to educate the interior architects and furniture designers of tomorrow for a sustainable future. In today’s globalized world, where advances in transportation and communication have brought cultures closer together, we offer educational opportunities through Erasmus+ by increasing the number of our international collaborations and agreements. In this way, students are able both to explore the unique design approaches of different geographies and cultures and to promote our own country and culture internationally. Our students also have the opportunity to pursue minor or double major programs in other departments of our faculty, including architecture, industrial design, and textile and fashion design. The furniture workshop within our faculty is open to student use. The outputs of our furniture design courses are produced in this workshop and exhibited both on campus and throughout the city, as well as presented to visitors and industry professionals at the Eskişehir Furniture Fair.
As the Department of Interior Architecture at Eskişehir Technical University, our greatest aspiration is to educate interior architects who are capable of integrating technology and art while embracing contemporary educational values and an original design culture. Dear prospective students, we would be delighted to welcome you among us as the interior architects of the future.
